Paul Simon - “Paul Simon” (1972)
Considered to be one of the best American songwriters of all time, this Paul Simon album backs that opinion. ”Run That Body Down” is one of my favorites.

Goodie Mob - “Is That You God?” (Dabrye Remix)
From the ATL RMX free download album released by Adult Swim in December 2009. Starkey’s remix is probably my #1, incredible selection of artists.

“My Big Nurse” by David Byrne & Brian Eno
Everything That Happens Will Happen Today (2008)

It is really hard to pick just one track from Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, they are all original. Last year, I saw David Byrne with his solo band & dancers perform at the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore, MD. He walked onstage and recalled a story about a Rahsaan Roland Kirk concert in Baltimore in the 1970’s where massive bags of cocaine were being passed around the crowd. The show was captivating, visually & musically, and had a song selection including a few from Everything That Happens, some old Eno/Byrne tracks, solo Byrne material, and a solid number of Talking Heads classics that got all generations bouncing on their feet and out their seats. Although, Byrne & Eno are aging, they have proven they are not slowing down.

“My Big Nurse” - lyrics by David Byrne
When the lake’s on fire
With all the world’s desires
When he shakes the stars above
When we lose the ones we love
When the seasons lose their grip
When the tightrope walker slips
I’m counting all the possibilities
When the past becomes the now
When the lost becomes the found
When we fall in love with war
When the angel fucks the whore
When the road we travel on
Takes us back where we came from
A million kinds of possibilities
For dancing on this lazy afternoon
In the comfort of the world
In the arms of my big nurse
From the science of the heart
To each animal and plant
Compact, relaxed, intact, give thanks
I’m counting all the possibilities
For dancing on this lazy afternoon
Flying Lotus “Glendale Galleria” from the Tectonic Plate 2.3 release with Joker.
This 2-stepy FlyLo track reminds me of the Burial & Four Tet, Moth / Wolf Cub EP from earlier this year - chill, spacey, repetitive choppy woodblock garage beats. Not so much a fan of Joker’s track.
